Construction began with the removal of large sections of the building envelope to open the dark interior spaces to light and views. A portion of the existing roof was removed and new steel erected to create the two-story lobby. The concrete wall of the meeting room was built to match the existing angle of the side parking lot.

In order to accommodate a large entry plaza and garden, tons of old asphalt parking was cut and removed. New brick was laid in a simple pattern while cement stucco was employed to cover the exterior masonry walls of the old structure.
